In March and April, 1996, a group of genealogists , under the leadership of Jeff Murphy, organized the Kentucky Comprehensive Genealogy Database.

The idea was to provide a single entry point for all counties in Kentucky, where collected databases would be stored. In addition, the databases would be indexed and cross-linked, so that even if an individual were found in more than one county the information would be available to the researcher.

At the same time, volunteers were found who were willing to coordinate the Collection of databases and generally oversee the contents of the web page.

Kylogo.gif (6911 bytes)      was born.

By June of that same year the idea had spread nation wide and the USGenWeb was born.

The people responsible for this county since the beginning are Gary and Becky Earls. If you have any data on Whitley County please let them know. They may be able to assist you in finding web space to make your data available online to other researchers.
