Richard is a Decatur, Georgia native, with deep Watkinsville, Oconee County, Georgia roots.
I have been involved in the Atlanta, Georgia real estate, and new home construction industry, for all of my adult life, and very much of my childhood, as my father was a Captain with the Dekalb County Fire Department, who also did sub-contract work on new homes for several of Atlanta's finest new home builders from 1951 into the 1970's.
After leaving Decatur High School in 1967, I attended Dekalb Tech, Dekalb College, General Motors Technical School, and Continuing Education classes at Emory University. I have also taken several commercial software classes at the Atlanta Art Institute.
After high school I went into management in the hard line retail food, distribution, and sales industry.
Looking for more opportunity, I started my own sub-contracting business working on new homes in 1976, continuing the twenty five year old family business, and working only for Atlanta's finest new home builders and community developers. In 1979 I became a Georgia licensed real estate agent, and have been with only the finest firms...Metro Brokers, Buckhead Brokers. During the late 1980's I also built sixteen new homes for myself. These homes ranged from sixteen hundred Sq.Ft. starter homes to over forty-six hundred Sq. Ft. luxury homes.
I have done just about every kind of work on a new home that a person can do, from clearing lots, staking out foundations, digging footings, doing material takeoffs, estimating, framing, roofing, electrical, plumbing, sheetrock, trim, painting, cleaning, punch out. I have an intimate, experienced, working knowledge of every phase of new home design, construction, closing, and beyond in the Atlanta Georgia Real Estate market.
I am now with a smaller, family owned real estate company, that allows me to give customized, personal service to my clients. No longer do I have to go to High Pressure Tuesday sales meetings, and cold call 300 prospects per month. We give you a much more relaxed, and personal service.
The Company I am with is THE ADAMS GROUP REALTORS. We are a small real estate company, with just a few agents. Cathy Adams is the broker. Cathy and her husband Richard comprise, Adams Custom Homes, builders of only the finest homes, to the most discerning clients. Several of the new homes on the Listings page are Adams Custom Homes.
