As web developer, work with a small team to maintain, improve, plan and expand the GDPH web site, a 1500+ page informational web site with online publications and databases. Position includes entire gamut of web development: simple site maintenance; content development; production of new features and designs; development of graphics; site activity analysis; long-term site planning and management. Position also calls for staff assistance and training of others within the Division as well as occasional presentations.

As volunteer web developer for a non-profit community development organization, conceived, designed, and constructed medium-size, information-rich web site from start to finish. Conducted pre-planning discussions, programmed and designed all pages, created graphics, created and edited content, set up several CGI programs, and carried out post-production work, including advertising and registration with search engines.

Read, distributed, and responded to reader mail, maintained department databases, collected information for strip items, transcribed interviews, conducted research for magazine's annual "Faces of AIDS" feature. Sponsored by ASME, the American Society of Magazine Editors, and part of a program that included education seminars on the magazine industry as well as tours of several prominent, New York-based magazines.

Part-time summer intern and freelance writer for "One in Ten" gay, lesbian, bisexual supplement. Working under the supplements editor, assisted in production of "One in Ten" as well as two summer preview specials and an education supplement. Typed, edited, and researched copy, made calls, ran errands, and kept track of books to be reviewed. Contributed three freelance articles to monthly "One in Ten" supplement, including "Queer Life 101," the September 1995 section cover story

Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual Issues Editor (Sept. 1994-Dec. 1995) and Weekly Collegian Columnist (Spring 1996). As editor: produced and supervised coverage of gay, lesbian, and bisexual issues for daily college newspaper. In October 1995, produced a four-page, broadsheet supplement in celebration of National Coming Out Day. Wrote, assigned and/or edited articles on a wide variety of issues, including homophobia in sports, AIDS, local GLBT resources, a proposed domestic partnership ordinance, Internet resources, local GLBT events, and more. As columnist: wrote weekly opinion column for fifteen consecutive weeks in the form of personal reflections on political and social issues.

Publicity director. Managed publicity for student-run cable access station. Produced flyers and brochures using desktop publishing programs, including Freelance Graphics, PageMaker 4.0, and Publish It! 3.0. Communicated with other student organizations, university departments, and prospective members.
